Les Productions du 10 avril

Founded in 2020 with the aime of forging links between the various musical and theatrical genres, Les Productions du 10 avril produce shows with variable geometry accessible to several types of audiences. They stand out by offering a diverse range of events: jazz concerts, lyrical shows, ambulatory shows, tours.

Linked by a desire for social commitment, by a desire to bridge the gap between a rich artistic heritage and the contemporary world, Les Productions du 10 avril wishes to offer artists an opportunity to participate in creative projects that have an impact on our society. Proximity and complicity with the public are at the heart of its mission. It wishes to contribute to the evolution of art on a human scale in our constantly changing society.

In the summer of 2020, in the midst of pandemic restrictions, Les Productions du 10 avril produced a first outdoor show that traveled to the island of Montreal and the North Shore, which allowed a dozen artisans to work despite the closing of the halls. La Roulotte Lyrique has performed more than ten times on restaurant terraces, downtown Montreal, at festivals, in gardens, etc.

Albertine en cinq temps - L'opéra was born from the desire to renew this experience of producing shows. The opera, composed by Catherine Major on a libretto adapted from the eponymous play by Michel Tremblay by the Collectif de la Lune Rouge, has already given more than fifteen performances in Quebec. Next fall, thirteen other dates are added to the tour schedule. A record was released in November 2022 by ATMA Classique.

The jazz section of Les Productions du 10 avril presents the work of guitarist Sylvain Cossette. In 2016, he published a jazz theory manual with Éditions du 10 avril. He launched the very first album of Les Disques du 10 avril with the Sylvain Cossette Quintet, "Second cycle" in June 2023. While health restrictions were still in effect, he contributed to the wave of broadcasted concerts by presenting a live concert with his ensemble.

Les Productions du 10 avril is still a young company, but they are already enriched by the experience they have accumulated over the past three years. They still have several creative projects to share over the next few years and wish to contribute to the emancipation of the various forms of art, and encourage collaboration between them.
